OMG, this is SO pretty! The colors, the trimmings, it's really a knock out. I'll bet the clients shoes were knocked clean off.

I can see why it was a frustrating project, but dammmmn if that isn't HD movie worthy. You always manage to balance elegant and opulent.

Aw, thanks! It took way too long to create, I need to look into ways to speed up my productivity!

This is amazing work. The layered trims are perfect, from the self fabric to the pearls.

Oh my god. That is truly amazing.

Where did you get the mesh? It's perfect.

Thanks! Believe it or not, it was from Joann's, in the "cheezy ass costume" department. I did take a risk that it would be too halloweenish, but it was the right grid pattern and was sheer enough to see the fabric underneath. I think it ended up working very very well!

Beautiful!

I think this one is probably my most favorite of your work so far... I love how it all looks together and the fabric color/embellishment is stunning. So pretty! Having watched your progress, I'll bet it was a magnificent monster to wrestle. So awesome!
starlightmasquestarlightmasque on May 9th, 2014 03:31 pm (UTC)
Thank you so much! It really was a beast of a dress, the embellishment seemed never ending-- there was almost 70 yards of the thin gold lace to apply, and 26 yards ruching, and 18 yards puff pleats... my god, how did I ever get through it all?

Thank you! I have recovered now, aspirin taken, and can now enjoy admiring it from afar!

OMG, that is completely stunning! Absolutely amazing work, I first thought it was a museum piece. :D

I think it's your bets work yet- I thought it was an extant gown first!
starlightmasquestarlightmasque on May 9th, 2014 10:57 pm (UTC)
Thank you so much! That is quite a compliment!

WOW
The pearls are pure genius! They really elevate the whole front, especially the stomacher. And I love the gold netting! I actually have some similar gold net, but I never would have dreamed up the idea to use it on an 18th century gown, yet it looks so perfect, like something straight out of a museum.
starlightmasquestarlightmasque on May 9th, 2014 11:02 pm (UTC)
Re: WOW
Thank you! I really love to gob on the pearls, I'm such a pearl junky.

I really can't take any credit for the gold netting idea-- that was an idea literally straight out of a museum! I was trying to mimic this extant dress from a museum in Canada-- I've always loved the furbelow design and was so pleased I was able to finally make one!
